Produced by the Japanese Americans incarcerated at assembly centers and “relocation centers” around the country during World War II, these newspapers provide a unique look into the daily lives of the people who were held in these camps.
George and Frank C. Hirahara Photograph Collection, 1943-1945 (WSU)
The George and Frank C. Hirahara Collection is considered the largest private collection of photos depicting life in the Japanese American internment camp at Heart Mountain Wyoming. This collection contains over 2000 images taken and processed from January 1943 to November 1945. Collection maintained by Washington State University.
UCLA: Estelle Ishigo papers 1941-1957
The collection consists of documents, records, correspondence, photographs, paintings, pencil drawings and sketches, and watercolor sketches related to Estelle Ishigo’s life in the Pomona Assembly Center, California and the Heart Mountain Relocation Center, Wyoming. There is also material related to the Ishigo’s postwar resettlement in Southern California. Archive maintained at UCLA Library Special Collection
